Celebrating Thanksgiving

Saturday was the day that we actually celebrated Thanksgiving out at Toby's parents. Everyone had Turkeys shirts that we wore. I tried getting some good pictures of everyone but it did not work out too great. I was trying to get the kids to smile and I told them to yell Gobble gobble, and this is what I got.

Finally for them to look at me a little bit but they were very busy and taking photos was not in their plan for the day with me :)
Once again 9 people looking at the camera is almost impossible. Palin and Colt had something on the ground that they were interested in, and not wanting to look at the camera.
We ate that afternoon, and visited before heading back to our house around 630pm.

Christmas Traditions

We started the Elf on the shelf with Cash two years ago. This year Fred the elf, brought an elf friend for Palin. They showed up on Sunday morning by having a breakfast table decorated for the kids. They were so excited when they woke up and saw the table and the elfs.
Palin named her elf Sofia. She is into Sofia the first so it seemed like a great Elf name.
Another thing that we are starting this year, is that I bought 25 Christmas books and wrapped them. I found them over the last 6 months as I decided that I was going to do this months ago. I bought a few here and there. The kids get to take turns each night on who picks a book from the bucket and unwraps it. We then all four sit on the couch together as a family and read them book.
So far its been a hit, and we have had fun doing it. I will keep the books and wrap them again next year and do the same, so it will always be a surprise on what book we are going to read that night.

Decorating

Sunday morning we went to church and to dinner with the Weems. After lunch was over we headed to get our tree. Since our rent house has a little living room, we chose a shorter tree this year but it still needed a little tender loving care before taking it inside to decorate.
We hung our Christmas lights and this is the first year in 10 years that our friend Jayson wasn't able to come and hang them for us. He used to hang them every year for us. We realized how much we missed him when he was not there to help us decorate.
The kids played outside and helped hauling off the branches that Toby cut off of the tree for us. The kids had fun helping to hang our ornaments on our tree. They were excited once it was complete. We ate dinner and everyone got ready for a Christmas movie.
Toby had bought "Saving Santa" a couple of weeks ago for the kids to watch once we decorated and it officially became Christmas season! The kids loved getting their pillows and watching the movie before heading to bed.  We had a great family Sunday getting ready for Christmas!!!!

Thanksgiving Day

Thursday was Thanksgiving but we were not celebrating it till Saturday. We woke up and spent the morning watching the parade at our house before heading out the farm at lunch time. Jonathan and Alison got in about noon also. They had driven in for the holiday from Missouri.

It was a pretty day and the kids spent most the of day playing outside with the dog, in the mudpuddles, in the wagon or just running around.

Palin liked gettting books read to her, she just did not like sitting still long enough to finish a book. She liked to start them and then move on to something else.
Cash did lots of exploring with Uncle Bob and got to shoot his BB gun and use his targets the Jayson bought him for his birthday. He even found a really big dead cow bone in a pasture! He thought that it would be a great treat for Bo the dog!
That night after we went home and got the kids alseep, Alison came over to the house and we headed out for an evening of shopping. We shopped for about 4 hours till midnight that night. The crowds were crazy at Walmart.

We had a great day on Thanksgiving, just hanging out and relaxing and playing with the kids out at the farm.

Stephenville Playoff Game

Friday we loaded up and headed to Ablilene to watch the Yellowjackets play in one of their playoff games.Palin did not want to have her picture taken with Cash and me. We were up and on the road around 10am, so we could eat lunch before heading to the game. We ate at Roadhouse and then attended the game. Luckily we stayed to the very end, because the Yellowjackets scored 2 touchdowns in the last 10 seconds and ended up winning the game in order to advance to the next round of the playoffs. Our good friend Erin was in town visiting her mom with the kids, so we even got to meet her for dinner after the game. It was great to see them since it had been a couple of months.

Turkey Project

The week before Thanksgiving Cash brought home a turkey on a white piece of paper. His assignment was to decorate the turkey however you wanted. We were able to decorate it with stuff that we had around the house. We put colored feathers and popscicle sticks on it for its feather. Toby made it a top hat and bow tie out of pipe cleaners. We used some material that I had to make his body. Cash was excited how he turned out.

Hunting and A big girl bed

We had a super cold weekend with tempatures not getting above 32 all weekend. We did a little shopping this weekend, went out to dinner with friends kid free, and let Toby's parents watch the kids for the evening. On Sunday we went to church and then over to friends house for lunch. When we got home I went grocery shopping and Toby stayed home with the kids. Toby and Cash decided last minute that the cold weather was perfect to go hunting in and they headed out around 430pm to go. They froze and did not see anything. When they got home Palin could not wait for Toby to take the front of her bed off. We have been telling her for weeks we would do it, we just had not. She was excited and she actually went down with out a problem and never got out of it after we told her it was bedtime. However, she rolled out of it about 5 times last night. Everytime I looked at the monitor she was not in there. I would go in her room and she was on the floor. I would pick her up and put her back in her bed. She never woke up when she rolled out. I guess that may take a little training.
