Round Two of Playoffs

Last night was round two of the playoffs. We played at 6pm, and we lost. 22 to 1. The boys were not playing as a team and made a lot of mistakes. They had about a 20 minute break between that game and the next one at 8pm. Cash and Hyson spent that time practicing hitting and throwing to each other while the rest of the boys were snacking and playing.

Cash had some really good hits last night in both games. Once the second game started the boys were on fire. They came out with a vengence and were determined to win. They scored 4 runs in the first inning and were playing as we have never seen them play. There were no mistakes this game! Cash had a couple of runs batted in and got to make it around the bases and run home.

The best part of last night was that Cash got put at first. He really likes first but has not gotten a chance to play this season. He was on fire with it. He caught balls, got outs and made great throws to the other bases. Below he is catching a out ball. He played perfect, we could not have asked for more.

We thought that we for sure had this going into the last inning we were up by 3 runs. The other team sent the last batter up and he had two strikes and all we needed was him to swing and miss the last pitch and we would progress and win the game. The last ball thrown at him, he hit and it went straight to third base and they missed it. It allowed them to send runners home and they won by one run in the last second. As the runner crossed home they called ballgame.  The boys were so disappointed. They played a great game and gave it everything. As sad as the picture is below after the game when the coach wanted to talk to them, I love the things that I see in this picture. I love that #2 has his arm around the catcher that was so disappointed telling him good game! You see the disappointment in number 7 as he is walking to the rest of the team.

Below you see Cash's disappoint in not winning, he has never gotten emotional in whether they win or lose. But he wanted to win bad. He was sad the whole way home and didnt want to stop and eat when we left Comanche. Finally talked him into grabbing something when we got back to Stephenville. When we got home we put him to bed and told him how great he did. My heart broke for these boys last night.

This morning he was tired but was in good spirits and put on his tournament shirt that he got and wore it today. He was smiles and happy this morning and already talking about playing football in the fall and when it would start. Tough lessons to start learning, but it has to start at some point.
